I grew up in Pratt, Kansas where nothing but the grass grows. Thanks to not having much to do I began tinkering with computers and that led to a fascination with all types of different technology.
I currently work as a DevSecOps Solutions Architect for the Forest Service department of the USDA. My role helps build out hardened and secure pipelines that are made specifically per an application developers needs. I specialize in building hardened linux containers to meet compliance and regulatory requirements in highly scalable, fast container management services such as ECS in AWS or Kubernetes in various environments.
I obtained my Bachelor’s of Science Degree through Fort Hays State University with an emphasis in Information Networking and Telecommunications. Post bachelor’s degree I’ve been studying to become a certified Amazon Web Services Solution Architect which would allow me to pursue my passion with network infrastructure while also allowing a healthy appetite of programming through Configuration Management Scripts such as Ansible, Chef and Puppet.
My previous work experience includes working as a Systems Engineer for Cerner, a software company for healthcare. I work to ensure that hospitals have a proper Disaster Recovery plan in place and organized. Our software takes advantage of Oracle databases on Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers and replicates them across multiple tiers of architecture.
I have also worked in the capacity of providing IT support to local businesses. Be it helping make appropriate hardware decisions for a new virtualization server, implementing a new firewall policy for the business or reminding them that capitalization matters when typing in a password. If it is IT related, I am the person on which they can rely.
Through the various and elaborate studies in my life, I have gained a tremendous respect and appreciation for all facets of Earth. I strive to learn new things each and every day so if a technology arises that comes off as unfamiliar and intriguing you can bet I’ll have researched at the least the basics of it by the following evening.
It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.
